I was waiting in the baggage claim section waiting for my bag, talking to Ofer, a friend I met on the plane. A security officer came closer and asked for our passports. He was asking security officer kind of questions. He flipped around the passports, handed one to Ofer and asked me to come pick my passport when my bag arrives. I waited there, thinking that I am going to be searched, and so it was. As my bag arrived I found the security dude again, and he led me to a hall with many searching desks and we began the dance. Asking questions – where, when, why, how long and so on. I was quite ok with the whole deal, but I was tired and slowly slowly it grew on me. I began to be really annoyed and tired from all these questions. Thoughts like, it’s all so nice but still happening, we are all cool and friendly but still suspicious, let this be over and so on and on. I could see myself getting lower and lower.

That when the observation happen. It was clear to me, suddenly, that from here on it’s not going to be fun, not for me and not for him. I could clearly feel that I am going to a place I don’t want to be. Unlike a lot of cases where I simply find myself in that place already, figuring what to do form here. So, without expecting, I had a decision to take, do I want it annoying? or do I want it nice? The decision was to get up. I want to say, that nothing was actively done to “lift” myself from that place. It was a decision and that’s it. I lifted myself a little higher from that annoyed sitting position I saw I am in, and in the corner of my eye, I saw a piece of cloth I had in my bag, that looks very cool. I took it, put it on myself and said “Look, it’s like a futuristic mad max kind of close, from an apocalyptic future.” He was so amused, and it launched the vibe to a completely new place. A few seconds after that, another security dude comes and asks me, “Would you mind to be filmed for a documentary we are trying to do about people in borders?” I was so amused and excited about this, that everything changed 180 degrees.

We ended up the check, and then, did the whole thing all over again for the camera! It’s amazing to have witnessed the feeling of what being amused and still open led to. And the simple fact that I was in one state of mind, totally annoyed after half a check. And on the other hand, totally excited and joyful state of mind after two times of the same check!

Even if the second one was acted, who says the first one wasn’t a game too?
