Snickers – Urbania

I have the pleasure of working with an agency and production house called SpyFilms. They are a very cool bunch of people, sitting in a funny bar/studio in Toronto, Canada. These guys work with international talent, and I had the chance to work with them on a short commercial, as a director/Post.

All was shot in st.Petersburg, Russia. Was such a fun production, hopefully with more to come ^_^

Agency: BBDO
Production: Just Production

Thank you Alex!!
enjoy!

P.S. That wasn’t the final sound track, but this was my favorite!!

Image Engine

I was working for 2 years at a post production house called Image-Engine, in Vancouver, BC, Canada. Where I started as a compositor on the foundry’s Nuke. A Powerful composting package with a 3D engine. Most of the work was concentrated on film with some TV work. I was able during the time there to dive in to the professional post production world, as a compositor mainly, with touching a lot on 3D setup (maya), Tracking, 2D fx, look development and all needed and around, Visual Effects shots.

For now, this is their reel, with a number of the shots I had participated in and created.

TV Reel

This is a video montage I have created, while working in Image-Engine, for their TV department. Here I have done the design, intro/outro and editing. I love the music too ^_^

Drunk

This is a cool and silly clip I’ve done in Image-Engine for fun, with Brett Keys. He is a cool dude, that was taking the photos and then putting them together with a serious retime fx. Funny ^_^

Vancouver Film School

During the time in VFS, I had couple of assignments and couple of little projects I had pleasure in doing. I won’t talk about them too much, I will just say they were all driven by the joy and wonder, of discovering Boujou . It’s the tool, that intermediates between the real and the computer graphics, by giving the virtual world the data of the “2D”, flat, real image. And here are the clips.

Sound Experim.ent

A funky clip that was done with a cool friend I met in Vancouver, Kim Model, and she was playing with a cool punk band at the time called “Chocolate Soup”. She was willing to play with me. Totally for you kim. Hihihi, Even my friend Roy was a victim!

Spider

Tal came to visit me and Roy in Vancouver when we were studying. At the moment I had a funny assignment that needed to be occupied by a Spider. A metallic little spider. That what came to be. hihih, Tal is a great actor!

FaceOff

This is one of the cooler stuff I have made. We went to learn a bit about camera’s and the way to shoot nice footage. Christopher Ahrens a.k.a Baba a.k.a Christafarai took this shot of me, very cinematic. I was thinking, Boujou can calculate the 3D aspects of a 2D image. Why not try it opposite. Calculate the movement of my face!!! hihiih turned out wicked.

Think Tank Training Center

When I was teaching composting and VFX at Think Tank Training Centre, I had to make examples for the class, using techniques I was going to teach them. Here are 2 of my favorites.

Fast Paint

This little thing was done using after effects masking abilities.

Play Cube

This example was done, to show how far you can go when using 2D tracking alone. So, this demonstrates After Effect’s tracking abilities, with a little bit of 3D layers.

Piece Of Mind

Piece Of Mind

This was my final student work at Vancouver Film School, where I was studying for a year. It is one of the things I am proud of the most. Mostly because of the road to the final product. It was a cool ride with a lot of magical happenings. Thus, the product have legs of it’s own, and it opened many doors for me.

It was a cool thing to try and visualize something that I really like. This life. This mind. This experience. ^_^ another this and I miss. And just to be more concrete, this is a project that took me over completely, and I have leaned so much from the process – about the process. And when I say “magical happenings”, I mean very cool and interesting coincidences and funny meetings with people, what inspired me. Here in this blog, I actually want to make another project like that, and even document the road.

Enjoy.

Old Works

Happy Robot

This is a little clip I did when I was in the army. I was posted somewhere as a medic. As a medic, you seem to have a little more time, as you are kind of on standby. The frustration being in a system like that seem to take funny faces ^_^

Byaksfop

This is a funny one. A nice dude from Lithuania contacted me. Gediminas Ivankevicius. Crazy name ^_^. many letters. He had, to my understanding, kind of a final project from his school were he was doing music and electronica. He sent me this Song, which he wanted to visualize. I didn’t had time at the time, but I wanted to try! So the thought was hanging there for a while.
One day I came back home after renting a camera for the composting class I was teaching at the time, and had the desire to do! I looked around and I collected all the objects I could find, to put on the turntable that was in the house I was living at the time. I also found a very cool little object that surprised me in it’s ability! It had LED lights inside! such a surprise, and it even shows in this clip.
Once I was compiling the footage together, it was a little long and boring to me. So, I was happy to come up with the idea, to write a poem. So, to me, this is a visual poem.

Enjoy.
Thank you Gediminas!!!

BOXeD

This is a little clip, that was done as part of the “creativity and inspiration” course in Think Tank Training Centre, I have experimented with. While teaching I was learning how to go about this subject. Scott was cool about me trying to deliver this class. It was quite mission, but a beautiful one. I learned alot.

I understood, that there is no escape from trying and doing. If one wishes to try and walk the creative route.

So, a little assignment was built together with the students. You have a ball and a cube. The ball goes into the cube, and then goes out. What happens in the middle – completely up to your creative flow.

This was my attempt.

“Into a deep dark world we fall,
so dark, we cannot see it all.

But where are the doors that lead from hear?
Patience, they take time to appear.

Some are much higher then you can aspire,
Some are too small, they don’t work at all.

Some are bizarre and do not enlighten,
some are confusing and can even frighten.

There might be too few,
There might be too many…
But what is the point of not choosing any!

They are yours to pick, and yours too choose…
Go on… pick a door,
You would never loose!”
