Process and Balance.

A friend of mine, Michelle Nirens, Was giving me a treatment using a method called Spalter. It’s a reflexology kind of thing, using a lot of aspects, like elements, emotional barriers, Nutrition and physical touch and activity.
I was charmed with the idea of the need of clean circulation of our energy. She was using the example of the four elements, used in that method: Air, Fire, Water and Earth. It was a cool thought, that the process is an endless cycle, going through all of these elements. The doing and going forward, is maybe the thing that makes it not a loop. More a spiral than a stuck, endless circle.

I have to admit. It’s a day by day thing, to spend some time in your mind with a concept, that becomes an idea, that reflects through our emotional life and becomes a picture in my mind. Hopefully to become an actual picture. Someone said to me couple of days ago when I was talking about this : ” So, you have fragments then? “. I was amused with how a fellow creator knows, the puzzle like feel of a creation process.

Michelle was also mentioning through the session, how much fire and air I have in me ( not the Chinese world elements I have to remind ), how much I spend time in my head and thoughts. We where then talking about ways for me to be more solid, more grounded. Soon enough, from the beauty of the conversation, an image came to my visual mind.

I am a kite. Flying around in ideas and excitement up in the sky! But, I shouldn’t forget, Ori, the boy who actually holds the kite. Who holds it through beautiful sky or stormy ones. So we’ll be as clean as possible with our journey, and then aim even higher, and get far to where even ourselves, can’t imagine.
May this charming metaphor, that makes me feel so humble, come across in what I am doing here. The time and energy to remember our balance, and actually do it. No matter if we are the kite or the boy. So we can enjoy playing in this life.

Creativity is personal. It’s a story.

Yesterday I was talking with Idan Cohen, which manages a shop called Plazma. I was talking with him, aiming to try and think about new ways for him to develop and expand his ideas. The conclusion ended up pretty funny ^_^
He was saying that he doesn’t want to change too much, even if the style and the ideas expressed in his work, are pretty messy. We ended up agreeing that his style is Messy. That is his Order. And this doesn’t go far from the personality of the charming dude.
I then thought, how amazing it is, that if we get our self to that fully involved, creative place, we are so immersed, we loose our self into the creation. There for, the creation become personal even if we don’t mean that! We cannot escape the fact that our personality and way of being is merged into the product. ( hihih life, as a product of our being, whatever our being is ^_^)
It’s beautiful to me. The fact that in that full involvement, in that ecstatic creation process, our very being is put into our doings. Then, maybe, our very essential being state, where it feels so happy and good, this quality is inserted into the product! mr.Flow has a stage. That magic is present, and basically it’s simply cool.
You can see it very clearly when people are enjoying, when they are happy about something. They are somewhere else, isn’t it? They spread love and joy all around, what ever the circumstances are. Just being there.

The following video is a talk of a guy called Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi. Which I wrote about a few posts before. A psychologist, that likes to explore the state of creation, which he calls state of Flow. I love the way he explores that place.
Happy place ^_^

Enjoy!

Do! …the rest will follow

^_^ That simple word – do.

Like before, while meeting with Assaf last time, he was immediately saying – let’s do! He is right, it’s very important, the need of doing. Nothing actually happens without doing – Stuff can get left with words only. With no actual progress.

I took this picture when I was going with the bus to Ein Gedi couple of weeks ago. It symbolizes something so charming to me. Like I’ve thought before, there is nothing I can do to actually catch life with, nothing to intentionally catch this magic with – I can only simply do, and hope it will be magical.

Next to the window of my sit was a little sign. This is a sign that in it’s center was saying around the smiley : “Best thig is to do” ( in a direct translation to English ). The bus was driving fast and I was taking a little bit of time to aim the camera in the right angle so the framing will be cool. Click. I took the picture. To my surprise I actually catched, almost perfectly, a dude leading a camel!!!

This was such a simple and cool example, to how the magic was captured by simply aiming and clicking! I couldn’t believe it, the bus was going o fast…

Let’s hope that this amazingness will be captured in this project, and then we’ll be able to look at it and see mr.Flow smiling at us – giving us the power to keep doing!

Ahh… Momentum.

Like “Juggernaut”, the fictional comics character from X-man.

The Juggernaut possesses superhuman strength, as well as the mystical attribute of being physically unstoppable: once in motion, it is virtually impossible to stop his movement completely.

Reflections… …snoitcelfeR

We where driving to In D Negev. Me and Yonatan. It was actually pretty cool and fun, to go on a big bike for a road trip. On the way we had fun and we where laughing a lot. After getting there, we discovered there are no tickets, so we headed to the camp ground. Bam, a puncture.
So there we were sitting, waiting to figure out what to do. I used the time to share with Yonatan about this project. After a while I made a joke, and Yonatan says :”Hihih, You always give characteristics to objects!”. Meaning, as a joke, I say what the traffic light pole would say. “ohhh.. I am so green now ! ”
Right then, The idea of mr.Flow being a little person that can give objects life!!!
It comes together with the idea, that we cannot see mr.Flow, we can see our own flow and inner joy and light, reflected back at us. Then, when joyful, everything around us looks alive.
It was a brilliant weekend.

What do you want?

While I was in Ein Gedi visiting friends, Shimon made a little question thing for me. He told me a little story about some characters.  After telling the story, he asked me to chart them from who was the nicest and who was the worst. It’s a cute little trick to chart qualities, as each of the characters stands for something. ( I won’t go more, in case you’ll meet this little trick once ^_^ )

We then talked about it a bit, and we thought, how cool it would be to add another character. The new character’s quality would symbolize how much you judge those people, how much you stand aside from the situation, even though you are asked to judge them.

Kind of overall approach.

Right then the idea of making the untouchable, unspeakable force of this beauty around us being a person, connected with a conversation I had earlier with Hila about the creature from the restaurant menu in Goa.

I talked to Tal a day later, and told him about the Idea. He was guiding me towards focusing what is the essence, what is the driving force. In the amidst of the conversation about the concept he asked “…What do you want?”. Meaning what do I want with this project, what drives me. I couldn’t not answer : I want freedom.

Nothing crazy. Just a little ease from this experience, that can be abundant with emotion that spins us around. Maybe finding a solid center?

hihihih, forget the want and it’s I, Freedom ! hihi

We’ll see where this idea goes too ^_^

Chasing the wind is tiring… Why not just open our sails?

Assaf had an interesting point, when we met the other day in a little coffee shop on Dizingof.

I was going on about, how exciting is the idea that the “third” layer of reality will be a little person. An Idea that came in Ein Gedi, after talking with Hila. We were talking about a little menu for a resturant in Goa, India we did when we where there together.

I was really exited to give a “human” form, or at least touch the human form, when trying to visualize something that cannot be even talked about, without missing the point. I was thinking that giving it a personality or atleast a human relative form, would make it cool to talk about with.

The idea was, that we cannot really force this “creature” to appear, but just give it the stage to make an appearance. to perform. Hopefully a memorable one ^_^ hihihih you’ll never know.

I’ve left the conversation with an interesting insight. I cannot talk about it. I cannot really show it. Like the idea itself… As I am mesmerized by this enchanting idea and it’s following feeling, I usually talk and talk and talk about the abstract and esoteric concepts, and how we can show them. What Asaf made me think about, is how funny that I cannot do it intentionally, but rather DO the fucking thing, and try to give the stage and place for that magic to appear. Doesn’t mean not to talking about it, but remember that the wondrous substance will appear, and trust it that it will. And we… we can keep sailing and creating!

Funny, a creation about how to put “quality”, how to put “coolness” to something. Create a body, and the life will be breathed into it. Filling it up.

I met a woman named named Ana, and she told something simple and cute. that comes together with that for me.    If you want to catch a fish you need a net, and then after you catch the fish – You don’t need the net anymore. You need a cage to catch a rabbit, and then, you don’t need the cage no more.

It was especially evident in the creation from school (VFS) “Piece of Mind”.  The ideas I wanted to express over there where so big and out there, stuff that can be brought up while talking about it, live, but when trying to give it a visual recorded manifestation, walla… it’s very solid. Not as flexible as a conversation.

Right there, I saw the indirect connection between the ideas of Piece of Mind, that are the same ideas that drive me to do this one, and the final product. But the way of that creation was magical, free, open and exciting.

A little bit of “Quality”  got into the trap, and now, the visual content is just a fancy cage.

Flow… a psychological approach

During the time I was experimenting teaching creativity and inspiration, to the students of Think Tank Training Centre in vancouver. I came across a very interesting definition of this creative energy, throught the eyes of a psycholigist mind.

This was copy directly from Wikipedia :

Flow is the mental state of operation in which the person is fully immersed in what he or she is doing by a feeling of energized focus, full involvement, and success in the process of the activity.

Components of flow

Csíkszentmihályi identifies the following as accompanying an experience of flow:

  1. Clear goals (expectations and rules are discernible and goals are attainable and align appropriately with one’s skill set and abilities).
  2. Concentrating and focusing, a high degree of concentration on a limited field of attention (a person engaged in the activity will have the opportunity to focus and to delve deeply into it).
  3. A loss of the feeling of self-consciousness, the merging of action and awareness.
  4. Distorted sense of time, one’s subjective experience of time is altered.
  5. Direct and immediate feedback (successes and failures in the course of the activity are apparent, so that behavior can be adjusted as needed).
  6. Balance between ability level and challenge (the activity is neither too easy nor too difficult).
  7. A sense of personal control over the situation or activity.
  8. The activity is intrinsically rewarding, so there is an effortlessness of action.
  9. People become absorbed in their activity, and focus of awareness is narrowed down to the activity itself, action awareness merging.

Not all are needed for flow to be experienced.

Personally I was so enchanted by the descriptions of that state! It resemmbles alot to the places we all like to go to, in many activities and parts we play in life.

Creation Loop

Let’s try. Let’s try to create something about the way stuff are created. About creation.

That beautiful, simple, joyful energy, that we seem to experience in life, throughout our life. That calm, troubless place. Where every thing seem simple and clear. And the craziest part… it exist everywhere.
